Idris Did Not Deserve To Win The Money, says Tayo

Big Brother Hotshots 1st runner up, Akintayo Faniran was one of the over 200,000 Lagosians who were treated to great entertainment, fun and excitement at the Lagos Countdown to 2015 on December 31st 2014, which held at Eko Atlantic City, VI Lagos.

Tayo was welcomed on stage by D'banj and he assisted the Koko master in making a choice for the 'Kokolet' he will take among the three girls that were brought on stage.

Powered by Star Beer, the Lagos Countdown had a series of thrilling musical performances from some of Nigeria's biggest names such as 2face, D'banj, Wizkid, MI, Seyi Shay and many more. A massive firework display also lit up the Eko Atlantic skyline for almost an hour with impressive configurations.

BBAFanClub was also informed that this world-class celebration was well attended by top dignitaries in Lagos state government as well as Lagosians who trouped in en-masse to celebrate and countdown to a New Year.

Meanwhile, Tayo still insists that the selection of Tanzanian contestant, Idris as the winner of the 2014 Big Brother Africa edition was not right.

Speaking to Ebuka on 'Rubbin' Minds' on Sunday, the Nigerian model said that he could not see any outstanding moment or performance of Idris in the highlights of the the programme that he reviewed some days ago.

"When the announcement was made that Idris had won the money, I was shocked, it was like a dream I thought maybe IK was joking." he said.

Explaining why he feels he deserved to win and not Idris, Tayo said, "You see, when you were in your classroom when you were at school, am sure you knew the best students in your class, you knew who would score like maybe 80/100 and you be like this guy deserves it, you know someone that would score 60 and you be like, eh you, how did you do it! I know you can not even struggle to get 30.

"When I was left in the house with Idris, he was feeling the heat, he was screaming, 'Tayo, Tayo, where are you,  where are you' I was just smiling like, no, I knew, I could analyse everybody and some things.

"Some people have told me since I got out that, I seemed like a spiritual person in the house and I would like to believe in that like my instincts are very sharp. I could feel things even when I can't see them or even when they've not happened already.

"And then when we were on stage when they were showing the highlights. I saw my own highlights for the first time, watching myself on TV what I have been doing in the house and I was entertained and when they were showing Idris', I was waiting for that punchline but I did not see anything! so in my mind I was like, it's done.

"But then when it was announced that he was the winner, I was like, oh ok, I was shocked. There was no time that I cried or was down, nothing. But I respect destiny, when God makes something happen, you have no right to question it, what is happening right now, let's take it as the best for me.

"Millions of people consider me their winner already, everywhere we go people rush out to me, so that is important to me. I feel like a winner, I don't feel like I've lost anything but the person that got the money may be different."

Asked how he thinks Idris would feel with his comments about his selection, he said: "I don't know, am not supposed to care. It is not supposed to be my own problem how he feels. I have the right to my own opinion no body can take that away from me if I feel like that. I congratulated him, I wish him all the best and I hope he uses the money wisely because money is variable factor, it comes and goes especially when you don't know what to do with it and you use it wrongly. I don't have anything against him, I have moved on with my life but unfortunately I can not escape questions like this because these interviews are still going on. So I will still say the same thing the way I feel."

He added that he is not in touch with Idris but among the 26 fellow housemates, he is in touch with Trezagah, Frankie, Esther, Lilian and M'am Bea.

  1. Idris beat you by 3 countries dear, hate the voters not Idris.Everyone who was in that house deserved to win. Why do you think you could win. You went in there and pulled up the The Uti style and thought that that will make you win. You are not Uti. Just get over it sha !

  2. Wrong, which millions think u r a winner? Maybe millions in Nigeria not around Africa. Idris could have been left with Macky 2 or Nhlanhla cos each of u had 2 country votes, u were with him cos of the more numbers ugot from Nigeria. Stop being a cry baby and move on. Stress will cause u hypertention and ull end up getting stroke. Dont forget u r 29. Congratulate Idris unlike being JEALOUS

  3. I think haters of Tayo are just sad that even without winning he has become more popular the winner. Nothing is wrong in Tayo expressing himself. He doesn't think Idris deserved to win and he said it loud and clear. I'm sure a lot of housemates would say the same if Tayo had won. And I'm even more sure that a number of housemates feel the same way as Tayo but as usual they are fake and so will not come out clean.

  5. Tayo is the real hotshot! Idris got the money but Tayo got the fame. Tayo had the strongest personality in that house and those who are happy that Idris won were only happy because they are haters and didn't want Tayo to win.

  6. Tayo is real to the core. He hasn't changed from the Tayo we saw in the house. Even from those statements he made in his interview with Ebuka one can clearly see that he is still his very straightforward self. Unlike some housemates like alusa and also jj who apologised to Tayo on twitter. Which means they were fake while in the house.

    1. I don't know why some Nigerians keep saying they are not liked by other African countries when they have actually won more than any other country in Africa. Besides who knew Tayo before, the show has actually projected him and made him who he is today. win or lose the show makes u popular so what is all these noise abt Nija boycotting the show. Tayo should know that, if he had won, the show would have lost credibility. He was real I agree but Africa hated his reality. Idriss won because we preferred him to the abusive Tayo period.
